CEIR Registration 2024

Through CEIR Portal, there are 10,17,449 mobiles traced and 17,70,121 mobiles are blocked. Under the Sanchar Saathi Portal, the CEIR Portal is run by the Telecommunications Department. The Sanchar Saathi portal which is citizen citizen-centric initiative of the Department of Telecommunications empowers mobile subscribers, strengthens their security and increases awareness about citizen-centric initiatives of the government.

What is CEIR?

CEIR module facilitates tracing of the lost/stolen mobile devices. This also facilitates the blocking of lost/stolen mobile devices in the network of all telecom operators so that lost/stolen devices cannot be used in India. If anyone tries to use the blocked mobile phone, its traceability is generated. Once a mobile phone is found it may be unblocked on the portal for its normal use by the citizens.

CEIR List For Device (Based Cellular Network)

  • White list for devices that are allowed to register in a cellular network,
  • Black list for devices that are prohibited registration in a cellular network
  • Grey for devices in intermediate status (i.e. when it is not yet defined whether the device should be placed in the white list or the blacklist).
  • The CEIR acts as a central system for all network operators connected to their EIRs to share blacklisted mobile devices so that devices blacklisted in one network will not work on other networks even if the SIM card in the device is changed.

How to Request For Blocking Lost/Stolen Mobile

  • Visit CEIR Portal i.e. https://www.ceir.gov.in/Home/.
  • Click on “CEIR Services” and Tap on “Block Lost/Stolen Mobile” from the home page.
  • Request For Blocking Lost/Stolen Mobile CEIR Form will open.
  • Enter all the details asked. Must All (*) marked fields mandatory.
  • Upload File asked.
  • Enter your Mobile Number For OTP
  • Click on Get OTP.
  • Fill out OTP and click on submit.
  • In this way, one can apply Request For Blocking Lost/Stolen Mobile.

What is Know Your Mobile (KYM) CEIR  Mobile Tracker Process

Through KYM, you can check the validity of your mobile device even before buying it. IMEI is written on the mobile packaging box. It can be found on the mobile bill/invoice. From your mobile you can check the IMEI number by dialling *#06#, the IMEI number will be shown on your mobile screen. If the status of the mobile is shown as Black-listed, duplicate or already in use, please avoid buying the mobile. KYM could be used through any of the following 3 methods.

KYM By SMS

User can verify their IMEI details by sending an SMS “KYM<15 digit IMEI number>” to 14422.

KYM By App Download

Download the KYM App from the Google Play Store (for Android) or from the Apple App Store (for iOS) by scanning directly from here. One can follow steps listed below to download CEIR App.

  • Click on Install and Wait for Installation.
  • Visit the Home Screen of your mobile and Use App.

KYM by Web Portal (IMEI Verification)

Direct use of the Know Your Mobile CEIR Portal with IMEI Verification is available now. Follow the steps listed below to Know Your Mobile Status through the Web Portal.

  • Visit CEIR Portal i.e. https://www.ceir.gov.in/Home/.
  • Click on Applications and Select IMEI Verification from the header bar on the Home Page.
  • Now IMEI Verification Page will open.
  • Fill Captcha.
  • Enter your Mobile Number For OTP
  • Click on Get OTP.
  • Fill out OTP and Click on Submit.
  • In this way, one can make IMEI Verification & can Know Mobile through CEIR Web Portal Directly.

How to Request for un-blocking recovered/found mobile

  • Visit CEIR Portal i.e. https://www.ceir.gov.in/Home/.
  • Click on “CEIR Services” and Tap on “Unblock Your Found Mobile” from the home page.
  • Request for unblocking recovered/found mobile page will open.
  • Enter your Request ID, Mobile number, and Reason for Unblocking.
  • Fill Captcha.
  • Enter your Mobile Number For OTP.
  • Click on Get OTP.
  • Fill out OTP and Click on Submit.
  • After verification, your recovered / found mobile phone will be Unblocked.

What is IMEI Number?

The IMEI uniquely identifies an individual mobile device. The IMEI is unique to every Mobile Equipment [“ME”] and thereby provides a means for controlling access to GSM networks based on the ME Model or individual units. The IMEI consists of a number of fields totalling 15 digits having digits from 0 to 9. The first eight digits are called Type Approval Code (TAC).
